With more than 370.000 peoples, Florianópolis
it’s the only capital of the Brazil that have the
population smaller than a suburb Joinville city, with more
than 440.000 peoples.
Fortune and richness it’s kind of a trade to Florianópolis
when the subject it’s beach. With 42 beach’s,
some one wild, others with a exceptional beauty, all to
attempt our international tourists, some beach’s with
hot and calm water, other’s are cold and have more
waves.
Who come to visit Florianópolis in any month will
find the big thing about this island: are to many places
do go and you’ll need choose some priority’s.

you know some of our historical places in a short time and
you wont need a car to do that.

We have some forts that are in all corners of the Santa
Catarina Island. No one can miss that! Some restaurants,
ruins and others places are so spectacular and represent
today the biggest architect and historical place for the
Brazilian navy in all Atlantic.
The Fort (Forte de Santana do Estreito) it’s located
about 400 meters from the downtown city, on the Avenue (Avenida
Beira-Mar Norte), above the Ponte Hercílio Luz Bridge.

Other monuments are incorporated to the Florianópolis
history.
One of the most important it’s the ponte Hercilio
Luz bridge, for decades it’s a main picture on all
post cards in this city, that bring it’s interrupted
to traffic. With 819 meters, was build in 1926, with two
towers with more than 75 meters. It’s a unique suspended
bridge on the world.
Other spot that you cannot miss it’s the Metropolitan
Cathedral, located inside the downtown.
Some meters far we have the (Palácio Cruz e Sousa)
Palace, build on XVIII century, it’s on beginning
used as a residential and work place to the local President,
Then was use for the Santa Catarina government until the
half of this century. Today it’s our Histroy Museun
about Santa Catarina.
The Alfândega building it’s also a good example
of history in Florianópolis. Was build between 1875
and 1876, with an architecture neo-classic, and rich in
details.
To see all this spots: Metropolitan Catedral, the Palácio
Cruz e Sousa Palace, the Âlfandega, and the Public
Marked or the old houses on downtown, you’ll need
only a few minutes walking.
Next to the Alfândega have the traditional commercial
center of the city – our Public Marked, with 140 stores
that have some one that sell local products (fish, meat,
sea food, furniture and decorative ceramics objects), over
10.000 peoples per day pass by this stores. That build was
open in 1898.
Also on downtown it’s located the Convention Center
of Florianópolis - Centro Sul. One of the places
more requested on Brazil.
Beyond of the downtown city, has many historical monuments
on the island, especially on locations as Ribeirão
da Ilha and Lagoa da Conceição lagoon.
It’s on summer that who visit the Florianópolis
can see some folklore manifestation, all with strong Spanish
and local influence, like the boi-de-mamão.
